Be the Buffalo
We deliver help to victims of domestic violence through community effort, clothing, and where available advocacy.
About Us
How it started
Backed by first-hand experience to the trials and tribulations that face domestic violence victims, we aim to help navigate and advocate for victims whether it be through court proceedings, finding resources, or just being an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.
In late 2024 the owner/operator began a very arduous process of navigating the family court system. After separating from an abusive partner and navigating domestic violence courts, resources, laws, and essentially how to be an advocate for herself, she persevered and vowed to never let another victim feel so "alone" while embarking on this journey.
Navigating something where you couldn’t get answers and had no idea what you were doing was something that she struggled with. Add in the challenges of raising children alone, managing self-care and household work as well as dealing with constant court issues it was overwhelming beyond understanding. After many hard nights, she knew she couldn’t be the only one- and so, Pretty Pink Papers was born.
After close to 2 years, and 2 final restraining orders and more pretty pink papers from violations against the order than she knew what to do with, the goal became a self-guiding journey to aide other victims to heal. We work with victims to find resources for much needed therapies, navigate areas of the Victims Crime Compensation Organization (VCCO) where available as well as provide donations of gently used clothes, shoes, and toiletries to victims who needed to escape or are in need.
The goal is to instill the motto of “Be the Buffalo” to all victims so they learn their worth, as well as learn just how strong they can be to withstand the storm.
